Sonia Robertson is the Managing Director of R Robertson & Son Ltd, a coach hire business and garage with a team of over 20 staff. This fast-paced business has been in her family for over 75 years. With Sonia growing up amongst it, it’s been a huge part of her life.
R Robertson & Son operates across Shetland, covering a range of public service bus routes, school runs, corporate hires, as well as tours and private hires. Plenty plates to spin, we’re sure you’ll agree!
Why did you choose CRC Accountancy to be your accountants and tax advisor?
“I had been with my previous accountant for years but felt that the once-a-year service that I was receiving wasn’t enough. We were recommended CRC by a friend, after hearing lots of positive things I started following your social channels, and after watching several of CRC’s informative videos on a variety of different topics I thought this is a whole different aspect of an accountant. Its not just about numbers, these videos were informative and provided valuable advice!

“The knowledge demonstrated by the whole CRC team, as well as the use of different applications and technology which make life much easier and saves time!
Working remotely has also proven that location doesn’t matter. CRC always has fresh ideas and suggestions that make me think ‘blinking heck there’s an easier ways to do this!’
Every meeting we have there’s always something new that I’m taking away from it!

What impact has it had on you personally working with us?
“Having somebody else other than myself that has a detailed understanding of my business and are there as support. This allows us to have discussions about the company – both the figures as well as all of the other layers of the business.
I need to be inspired and I need to be driven too and I found that you're doing that for me. I'm getting that inspiration, ideas, and suggestions and I'm inspired to then take the bull by the horns!”

“Other than moving you guys into our office, I really can’t think what else could make things better!”
Thoughts from CRC...
We held a business planning session with Sonia and her team on site in Yell, Shetland. Being able to see the logistics of the business and meet the team was a fantastic way to begin the session, and get an even deeper understanding of their business. Ultimately, this deep understanding feeds into every aspect of our working relationship, and will shape it for the months and years to come!
