Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed that 3 new grants, which were announced last week, go live at 14.00 today.

1. Newly Self-Employed Hardship Fund

The gist of it: Basically a fund aimed at giving grats of up to £2k per person for people who became self employed on or after 6 April 2019 (and therefore couldn't qualify for the existing Self Employed Income Support Scheme). Full details here.

2. Creative, Tourism & Hospitality Enterprises Hardship Fund

The gist of it: a fund aimed at businesses within these sectors, of up to £25k per business, which does not have a non-domestic business premises (and therefore hasn't been able to claim the £10k/£25k Business Support Fund grants).

How to claim: this is administered through enterprise agencies with assistance from Visit Scotland and Creative Scotland. Full details here.

3. Pivotal Enterprise Resilience Fund

The gist of it: aimed at assisting small and medium enterprises which are essential to the local and national economy of Scotland, but who have found themselves in financial hardship through coronavirus.

How to claim: this is also going to be administered through enterprise agencies. Full details here.

Coming soon . . . Orkney Island Council hardship fund grants

Full details are yet to be announced of the £5m pot which OIC set aside for Orkney-based businesses.

Therefore, if you live within that local authority area, and the above three grants don't cover your business, there is a chance that this will still be able to cover you.
