Hi! I'm Calvin Cooper. Welcome to CRC Accountancy!
I started this firm in early 2018, on the back of nearly 11 years working for another accountancy firm. Leaving that firm gave me the chance to sit back and re-evaluate what’s really important to me.
no better satisfaction can be gained from life than freeing up time to do the things you enjoy!
As a keen surfer and squash player, I knew that these escapes from the office were where I really found my ‘happy place’, and I started to realise that no better satisfaction can be gained from life than freeing up time to do the things you enjoy!
(For the record, I’m a very enthusiastic surfer, but not terribly skilled. That doesn’t prevent a big cheesy grin crossing my face each time I catch a wave though!)
From the outset, I knew that the main focus of CRC would be to help others free up time to do the things that are important to them, whether it’s finding more time for hobbies, time to spend with family and friends, or even just extra time to focus on the business.
finding innovative ways to cut out the excess from someone’s daily routine really does appeal to me.
A desire to be challenged
I’ve always been a huge fan of efficiency. So long as something can be done to a high standard, I’ll always try to find the quickest, most efficient way to reach that end point. As my family, past teachers, and pretty much anyone I’ve worked with over the years will testify, I’m a wee bit of a perfectionist. So whilst I like efficiency, the quality must never be compromised in order to reach the end point.
Being given the challenge of finding innovative ways to cut out the excess from someone’s daily routine really does appeal to me.
Since I started my accountancy journey, developments in technology have had a huge impact on how I work, as well as the services clients are able to receive. These changes have all been positive.
When I started, many of the processes were still manual, and there were mountains of paper records in every business and accountancy office. However, new cloud accounting software, developments in smart phones, and the associated apps, are making all of our lives easier by the day. Paper is something which plays an extremely limited role in the CRC office – everything is electronic.
With these developments, I believe that the expectations of clients has increased. Businesses now expect to receive information instantly. Rightly so, I’d say.
We will always treat clients as we would wish to be treated ourselves. It’s only courtesy.
Personally, if I was on the receiving end of an accountancy service, I would expect this level of quick service. This would help me have a solid understanding of my current position, and allow me to make accurate, timely, business decisions.
The traditional accounting approach of clients waiting several weeks, or even months, to get reliable information back is something which should be relegated to the history books. Modern accountancy is something altogether more instant. Something more rewarding.
I carry this mindset into my relationship with every client. We will always treat clients as we would wish to be treated ourselves. It’s only courtesy.
Flexibility is key
If you would like regular meetings, we will have regular meetings. If you’d rather that we come to you, we will come to you. If you want a hand from month to month, without a full ongoing commitment, we’ll be flexible to suit you.
By working closely together, and taking advantage of the technology at our disposal, together we can really enjoy our working lives, and find more time to do the other things we enjoy when the working day is done!
